Charles Townes Changed Printing Industry Forever And For Good


All Hail The Man Who Invented The Laser

Anybody who is anybody in printing industry knows the importance of laser. From platesetter to laser cutting machines and a myriad of other devices laser contributes to the creation of high quality printed products. Sadly the man who contributed to the invention of laser, Charles Hard Townes recently passed away.

He was co-inventor of the laser and a Nobel laureate in physics. At the time of death he was 99. Officials at the University of California, Berkeley, where Townes was a professor emeritus, said he had been in poor health before he died.

Although printing is a commodity these days but we should not forget that a high quality printed product is the result of a chain of highly complex processes, which involves many technologies, skilled workforce and years of continuous innovations by top scientists and extraordinary people. In deed laser has been playing a crucial role in advancements achieved within graphic arts industry. So let's all hail the man who changed the printing industry forever and for good.
